I absolutely love it here! I have become friends with lots of the front desk workers. They are all so friendly. They always work to fix any issue you may have. Definitely much better employees and management than most other student apartments in Tempe. Unfortunately, the walls are very thin; I can hear every word my roommate says when she’s in her room. I also pay the exact same price as my roommates who have walk-in closets AND larger rooms, while I have the smallest room and the smallest closet which is not walk-in. I wish the people with bigger rooms would have to pay more. But overall, it’s been much more enjoyable living here than other Tempe student apartments. I would definitely live here again.
Although maintenance and front desk weren't the most helpful or friendly, the property was VERY well maintained and clean. I loved the modern feel and you can definitely tell that this is a newer apartment as it hasn't been destroyed yet like other apartment buildings around campus have been. The location is a little annoying since its on the opposite side of campus from the business school where all my classes were but still close enough for an easy walk. I would definitely live here again! :)
I'm writing this as a warning to parents and on behalf of my niece (who has a different last name - so they can not retaliate against her). She was a victim of a horrible bait-and-switch scam, paying an egregious amount of money (like Silicon Valley rents - absurd). Without without warning, rent or parking abatement, or any other compensation, they give her an ADA apartment with lower countertops, bars everywhere, and their remark is "That's the last unit."
The girls were promised and shown something completely different when they signed up and signed their leases. No discussion or disclosure that you'll get "What's available when you get your keys, or the possibility you would get a different apartment than what you were signing for, including an ADA apartment."
And of course they don't disclose (and you don't discover it) prior to moving in because when you show up the week before school, there are no other apartments left in the area. They showed up and were told "The other units are all assigned and you'd have to find four people to switch."
I love the fact that we live in a country with ADA laws and requirements, and that there should be apartments like this available for people who need them. HOWEVER, the adjustments to the actual counters, bars, doors, and other things that are wheelchair-height accessible are also less accessible for very tall people, and my tall niece was there a month ago (when they absolutely knew they were assigning her this apartment) to take measurements for accessories and layout and they took her to a completely different room in order to not let her and her friends know ahead of time (perhaps when there might have been a chance to find a different unit somewhere else) that they were getting an ADA unit.
The way responsible corporations deal with this is with an apology, conversation, and compensation to make everybody whole. Apparently University Partners (the company who owns Canvas), which hysterically states "Integrity" as one of their core values on their website, thinks that lying, deception, and deceit are the way to treat their communities.
Lastly, read the other reviews, they buy reviews with raffles. Look at the 1-star reviews for the truth about this property. No truly great business has this many detractors.
Nice apartment but very high prices for what you get. No trash pickup or cleaning services. They don’t seem to cater to their tenants needs very much and only worry about pricing. My last place had services like trash pickup and cleaning included.
My son loves living here & has renewed for a 4th year but for some reason the electric has almost doubled for him out of nowhere in the last 2 months and now his new lease for 2024/2025 went up $300 a month! That is ridiculous!
The amenities are amazing at canvas, it’s clean and gorgeous. The apartments are very cute with their interior, the kitchens mainly. Love that the washer and dryers are really nice ones with various settings. Lots of storage space in the place/each room. I like the dark doors as well.
I love Canvas Apartments. Since my first showing with Chloe and seeing all that Canvas has to offer, I immediately fell in love with it. It’s perfect for college students and the staff is so helpful and kind. They genuinely want to assist you and make sure your residency here goes well. They’re very involved with resident events and announcements. The amenities are amazing and the pricing suits them and the complex. They’re the best priced for what they offer. I always see the cleaning crew and security guys and know that my building is clean and safe. I wouldn’t choose any other building over Canvas and the friends and family I bring over definitely agree with that statement.
Canvas is very very very poorly mismanaged. First of all, they hold raffles where you need to leave a good review in order to participate, so a lot of the positive reviews are from that. There is also trash everywhere including the hallways, the parking garage, and the elevators. Most of the time, one of the main elevators is out of commission. The front lobby has a very bad odor when you walk in. The customer service is not great. The parking garage situation is the worst of them all. The pricing is absolutely ridiculous. They are charging $200 A MONTH for a parking space. The parking garage is very poorly designed, making it very difficult to see if anyone is coming around turns. This would be fine if Canvas actually had large mirrors in each corner, so one could actually see around the corners and avoid an accident. It took them a very very long time to add mirrors. However, it was executed very poorly. Canvas's solution was to put super tiny mirrors on the edges in front of parked cars, meaning all you see out of them is SOMEONE'S ALREADY PARKED CAR. It is absolutely ridiculous as that is a major safety concern. There needs to be mirrors in every corner. Also, there is no surveillance in the parking garage. During this semester, cars were broken into, including mine, so it would have been nice to have some footage of the crime. The second gate to get into the parking garage is also broken about 70% of the time. I cannot believe that they would charge someone $200 to park here when the gate is not even operational. It is absolutely ridiculous.
Beautiful place to live! The rooms are super nice and updated and the lounge spaces, gym, and pool area are great places to hang out! They also have lots of events for residents which is great to get involved socially! However, even though …
